Love + Serve Engagement Area

Beginning Sunday, November 30, for 3 consecutive weeks, visit the Love and Serve The Least of These Engagement Area set up in the Gathering Space to get connected with the ministry that the Lord has put on your heart! During your visit to the Engagement Area, you can:
- Pick up a list of donation items by ministry
- Drop off donation items
- Learn about additional prayer needs
- Purchase items made by women escaping human trafficking
- Join a ministry team

Selah Christmas Concert
On Saturday, December 6, Selah will bring their beautiful harmonies and "modern" musical touch to the songs of Christmas and more! Joined by the Carmel band, choir and orchestra, Selah's concert promises to be a wonderful celebration of the coming of the Savior. Click here and look for the December 6 concert in Matthews, NC. Tickets are general admission and cost $10 per person plus a $1.60 processing fee. There is no childcare for this event or special ticket pricing for children.
Women's Ministry Winter/Spring Bible Studies
Carmel's Women's Ministry invites you to join a Winter/Spring 2015 Bible study. Life in Christ requires taking time to study God's Word. There is transforming power when you study God's Word together in the context of community. Before the craziness of the holiday season begins, make it a priority to set aside time to become a follower of Christ by learning and living. Registration is open through Sunday, December 7! Kick off your Christmas season by getting “wrapped up” in what matters most at Famjam on Wednesday, December 3 at 6:15pm. Famjam is a family experience designed for 1st - 6th graders and their parents where we explore the truth of God's character and how to live out our faith through a monthly Life Application. This month's Life Application is GENEROSITY - Making someone's day by giving something away. The Uptown Auditorium opens at 6:10pm. Please sit as a family so you can learn and celebrate together.
Registration for the January FirstStep class is open. FirstStep is designed to equip parents to lead their child into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and celebrate the Milestone of Salvation. It is an interactive, child-friendly 4 week class for 1st-6th graders and their parents on Sunday mornings. It is required before a child takes their FirstStep of obedience through the baptism, and strongly recommended for any child who has been baptized from a previous church. Register online here. VISTA Christmas Brunch - December 11

Albania Mission Trip
Carmel will send a team to Tirana, Albania, to work alongside the staff at Bethany Social Services from February 27 - March 7, 2015. Cost for the trip is $2,100. Bethany provides for orphans, as well as, abandoned women and children. The team is looking for nurturing caregivers, educators, and people who can lead crafts, music, and sports activities at two orphanages, one for children, ages 0-6, and the other ages 7-16. 2015 Finish The Wall Mission Trips
In partnership with Finish The Wall, Carmel will send teams to Honduras (February 7 - 14) and Costa Rica (March 14-21) in 2015. Both teams, open to men, women and children (14 years of age and older accompanied by a parent), will do construction-related tasks on local churches. Journey Through Church History
Building on the biblical foundations of our Fall Journey Through the Bible Survey, this course traces the Church’s understanding of the Christian faith through history. Classes, offered at Carmel in partnership with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, will be on Wednesdays, 6:00 – 7:30pm from January 21 – April 22. There is no cost for Carmel members. There is a charge for non-members and for all who take the class for credit. Register here.
Monday, December 1 marks the 5th anniversary of Joseph McMurry's employment with the church. Joseph passionately serves as our Student Pastor, overseeing a ministry that involves over 500 students and their families. When you see Joseph, please be sure to let him know how much we appreciate his dedication and commitment to this ministry.
Church Bylaws Amendments
Two motions were made at the November 19 Quarterly Business Meeting to amend the church bylaws. Copies of the proposed changes are available here, at the church office, and at the main welcome desk for review. These amendments are scheduled to be voted on at the next Quarterly Business Meeting on February 25, 2015.

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no Wednesday Night Family Supper or activities on Wednesday, November 26. On November 27, 28 and 29, the Carmel campus will be closed.
