Throughout the Charlotte area, there are many Slavic (Russian speaking) people, but there are very few churches that reach or minister to the needs of this people group. Carmel Baptist Church has partnered with Konstantin and Angela Goncherov for many years as they planted and pastored a large church in Irpen, Ukraine. A few years ago, the Goncherov family moved to Charlotte. Konstantin now serves at Carmel as a Missionary in Residence, serving the Slavic people in the Charlotte area.
Connect With Us
Throughout the year, we provide many different ways to connect the Slavic peoples of our community together. Below is an overview of ways to connect with us.
Weekly Small Groups:
If you would like to get connected to a weekly Russian speaking small group, please email Konstantin at . These small groups are great opportunities to meet new people, learn about the Bible, and grow in relationship with Christ.
Slavic Women's Ministry
Angela Goncherov leads our Slavic women's ministry. Angela and her team are always coming up with new and exciting ways to connect the women of the Charlotte Slavic community. They regularly host fun events like "Salad Parties" or "Cookie Exchanges". To get involved in our Slavic Women's Ministry, email Angela at .
Stay tuned for upcoming Holiday Celebrations as well. Below are a couple examples of past holiday festivities:
Slavic Christmas Celebration
Over Christmas we celebrated with over 100 Slavic people the traditional Russian Orthodox Christmas of January 7th. This was an amazing event, where people could connect in community, but more importantly, learn about the true meaning of Christmas.
Valentine’s Day Outreach
On February 18th we hosted a special Valentine’s Day outreach for Slavic people in Charlotte. The evening event was full of colors, good humor, games, delicious food and new relationships developed.
