Carmel is committed to making disciples of those Nearest, our Neighbors and the Nations.
"Go home first"
Equip the parent to be the primary disciple maker
We believe that parents are the most influential people in a child’s life. What parents say to their children about God is far more important than what we say to them about God. At Carmel, we design our ministries to come alongside the parent, equipping them to love and serve their spouse and to lead their children spiritually.
The Old Testament speaks to parents when it says: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:4 - 7
We want to help you be a homeowner of a different sort. It’s human nature to sit in the audience of life and point to others who should do something, instead of looking into the mirror of life and saying, “I want to own my little slice of life, my home, by loving and serving my family.” That’s not saying our lives and families are perfect – they are not. Life is messy, we are flawed, and we make mistakes. But we want to help you be intentional and deliberate in your pursuit of sharing the Gospel with those Nearest.
To help families, we have created a pathway we call Milestones. We have identified 6 key milestones to help parents guide their children to live an abundant life in Christ.

"Go across the street"
Love and serve our neighbors
Consider the neighborhood where you live. Whether you will live there for a short time or long time doesn’t matter, by the sovereignty of God, you are living there for a reason. We are called to do life with our neighbors!
Jesus said: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39
Loving and serving our neighbor means getting to know our neighbors names, hearing their stories and learning about their needs.
Beyond our neighborhood, we have neighbors that we don’t know and we are called to serve. We want to be FOR the cities of Matthews and Charlotte. Therefore, Carmel has ministry partners throughout the city who are serving the homeless, refugees, women who have unplanned pregnancies, those who drop out of school, those who are enslaved, as well as other neighbors who need our help.

"Go to the Nations"
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19 – 20
43.3% of the earth remains unreached with the Gospel. It’s hard for us to understand that can be true since the Gospel seems to permeate our area. But it is true. Because we believe that we are dead outside of Christ and that the only hope for life comes from Christ, we believe that we must do something to share the good news of Jesus Christ. We must Go. Pray. Give.
