High School Graduation Milestone
Saturday, May 31, 2014 - Sunday, June 01, 2014
We know you are approaching a time that is filled with many mixed emotions. You have tried your best to raise your child to be a Christ-follower who loves the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. You have made it this far, but it is still hard to watch that young man or woman walk out the door into a new stage of life. They will certainly face difficulties and challenges. Our prayer is that as they go, they will make decisions that honor God and honor your family. Remember that God is in control!
Each year, Carmel celebrates High School Graduation with an event intended to honor our graduates and launch them into the next phase of their lives. This year, as we celebrate the Milestone of High School Graduation, our celebration will take on new life that will look different than what you may have seen in recent years. We want the culmination of Milestone 6 to be a special moment in the life of your family, and we are going to do some exciting things that weekend. For more information about Carmel's Milestone Path of Discipleship, click here.
This year, the Senior Impact Dinner is Saturday, May 31st, and we will recognize graduates in all three services at Carmel on Sunday, June 1st.
The Senior Impact Dinner will take place in the Gym at Carmel, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, on Saturday, May 31, and will include a catered dinner and program. The cost is free for seniors, $10 for parents and other family members who would like to attend, and $5 for family members under age 18. The entire family is encouraged to be a part of this special time. It should be a very memorable event for your family.
In addition to dinner, we would like for each parent to be involved by writing a letter of blessing to your senior. Please include how special they are, and what they mean to you. Let them know that you will be praying for them, and that it is time for them to spread their wings and fly. Finally, add some Scripture that you can pray over them. We know that this may be a difficult task for you, but it will mean so much to your student. We have included a link to information that will help you do this. Click Here (If you need additional help, please call or email Joseph for suggestions.) You will have an opportunity to read this letter to your senior (privately) during our time together on Saturday night.
Please register online for your graduate and all guests by Sunday, May 25th. Link If your family is unable to attend the Senior Impact Dinner but will be in attendance on Sunday, June 1st, please use the same link to register for Graduate Recognition.
Each graduate will receive a gift from the student ministry, as well as a keepsake box. We encourage you to ask friends and family members to write letters of encouragement, that you can place in your graduate's box on the evening of Senior Impact.
Finally, we need a baby picture and senior picture for each graduating senior. These pictures will be shown on the screens at the Senior Impact Dinner, and as your child is recognized in the worship services. You will have an opportunity to submit your pictures when you register. If you happen to miss the link, please email both pictures to Ryan Jackson by Sunday, May 25th. Pictures received after May 25th will not be included in the graduate publication, or the graduate slideshow.
If you have any questions, please call us at 704.847.8575. It has been a privilege to watch your students grow and mature; we are going to miss them very deeply. We will ALWAYS have a special place in our hearts for them. They are an incredible group of kids, and we hope all of you will make Senior Impact and Graduate Recognition a part of your graduation festivities. Let's celebrate the Milestone of High School Graduation together!
