Key Verse: Psalm 102: 25-27 “In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. 27 But you remain the same, and your years will never end.”
This morning Pastor Alex began a new sermon series called “Living Well Through Change.” This is a series based on the life of the Old Testament Character of Joseph. Joseph was the 11th son of Jacob, who was the grandson of Abraham. This morning Pastor Alex set up the series by talking about change and how it happens to everybody. Some people handle change well and others don’t do as well. He told us that we will see how to handle change biblically through the life of Joseph.
Questions to discuss as a family today
1. How well do we, as a family handle change in our lives? What was the last change you remember dealing with?
2. Pastor Alex said there was one main “take-away from this morning – can you remember what it was? (When life doesn’t make sense we need to look to the promises of God found in the scriptures, for God does not change…)
3. We were challenged to look through Psalm 119 and find the verses that talk about the promises of God (or look for the word “promise”). This week we will read a few verses a day from Psalm 119 and look for those words.
Prayer
Pray and thank God for his overwhelming love for us. Thank God that, no matter what changes we face in life, he will always be there and will never change. Thank God that even when our life may not make sense at the moment, or we are going through a difficult time, God is faithful and he will always be there for us and make his will for us come at the right time. Thank God for his promises found in the scriptures.
