7 Words of Worship: Halal
The word Halal means to boast or be recklessly foolish. Pastor Clay used Psalm 150 as an example where halal is used in repetition as a hymn of praise that becomes a shout that then becomes a roar. This passage is the essence of what halal means: to worship God with reckless abandonment.
Our praise to God should should be completely consumed by our NEED to praise Him. It should be fearless. It should be like wildly jumping into the arms of God knowing He is there to catch us (2 Samuel 6:12-22). Worshiping God in this way can be overwhelming for most us today. It is easy to get caught up in what other people are seeing or thinking about us when we worship. Praising God (Halal) is done for God and all He has done for us. To do this with a fearless abandonment requires to only be concerned about the praise of our Heavenly Father, not the praise of other people.
Pastor Clay concluded with a challenge that it is not about the mode or method in which we praise God, it is about the spirit of praise. Psalm 113:2 says, “Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forever.” We should all seek to praise God fearlessly (Halal) from today until forever for all He has done for us.
