Around the Campfire…Parables from King Jesus

Kingdoms have kings, and what the king says is truth. So, the parables of Jesus are the King’s words to the citizens. We are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, and that value is priceless! Citizens who believe in their kingdom with do anything for it. The Kingdom of Heaven:

Began with the creation, the incarnation of Christ, and continues with a sinless life and death of Jesus on the cross. It speaks to our sanctification, it contains no condemnation, and we are indwelled with the Holy Spirit. It is family united in Christ, salt and light, and it is now…but not yet!

Both the Parable of the Hidden Treasure(Matthew 13:44) and the Pearl of Great Value (Matthew 13:45-46) speak to finding treasure. The first man stumbles upon it, but the second is looking for it. The treasure is the Kingdom of Heaven, and they sold everything once they found it!

To discuss as a family today

1. What are the pearls of great price for you? (spouse, children, home, career path, retirement, etc…) Do you put these above the Great Pearl of Price?

2. Who do you know that needs to discover that pearl? Do you really care if they are a part of the Kingdom of Heaven?

Your Lord wants ALL OF IT! He gave everything for you to be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven. Hold the things of this world loosely…

Prayer

Father, thank you for loving me, and letting me have the opportunity to be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven. Help me see where I let the pearls of my life get in the way. I choose to hold the things of my life loosely for you to guide me where you want me to go. I am grateful to have found the Pearl of Great Value.
