Key Verse: Genesis 41:15-16 – Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”
Pastor Alex continued his series on “Living Well through Change” this morning as he continued to share about the life of Joseph in Genesis 40-41. Even though he was in prison, Joseph kept living! He was able to see others around him, and was used by God to interpet the dreams of the Cupbearer and the Baker. Unfortunately for Joseph, the cupbearer forgot about him, which meant Joseph was doomed to prison for another 2 years. Although he might of felt depressed, lost, and forgotten, God was (and is) faithful. He was molding and shaping Joseph to be prepared to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. When Joseph was brought before Pharaoh, he gave glory to God, and was put in charge over ALL of Egypt. Joseph was faithful with the small things, and now God was giving him the blessing of being faithful with the big things.
Questions to discuss as a family today
1. Are you in the valley or on the mountaintop? Why do you feel that way?
2. When given an opportunity, how can you stay humble and not prideful?
3. Where has God brought you from? How do you see His faithfulness displayed in your life?
Prayer
Praise God for always being faithful. Confess to Him the areas of your life where you feel forgotten, and then read and claim Psalm 139. Commit to the Lord that you will strive to be faithful with the small things that you are given to do. Commit that when life is good, that you will stay humble, broken, and soft in the hand of God.
