1 John 1:5-2:2

God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. This is a character statement about God. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When you’re comfortable in the dark, that is a terrifying place to be. We need to celebrate conviction. If you are a Christian, sin won’t cause you to lose your salvation, but it will cause disruption with your fellowship with God. Seek a hunger for holiness. Your walk should reflect the Spirit in you (Romans 6:4; Ephesians 4:1) There is an intimacy with God when there is honesty with God. Chapter 2:1-2 tells us that Jesus is our advocate. (John 14:16; 14:26; 15:26; 16:26) Propitiation satisfies God’s wrath towards sin. Jesus took the wrath that we deserve! Every love that the world offers us is a lesser love. Find biblical community because darkness loves isolation. Pray: God, please create in me a clean heart. Show me where I am living a secret life, and help me long for the light.
