1 John 2:12-17

There is no sin greater than the love of Christ

1) Your sins are forgiven

The forgiven know love and love others well

2) You know Him

You have experienced Him

3)You have overcome the evil one

Our strength come from abiding in Jesus, which allows us to overcome Satan.

Caution: Do not love the world – verse 15

John is speaking about the world as it is aligned in rebellion against God:

desires of the flesh

desires of the eyes

the pride of life

When you treat something good as the “ultimate”, that is worldly.

What makes you confident

about the future?

The Kingdom of God is the only unshakeable thing.

What do you love most in life?

What do you fantasize about having?

What are you terrified of losing?

It’s not that your attraction

to sin is too strong,

but that your love of God is too weak.

The world will never fully satisfy.
