1 John 4:1-6
The Truth of the Bible seems clear, but when the world infiltrates, it becomes harder to discern. There is an enemy that is targeting us. -Our pride can blind us to error. -We can be swept up because we trust the source, whether we should or not. We can’t think of Jesus in our own image. -Salvation only comes through Jesus. -We must know the gospel. -Jesus has claim over every life. Do you listen to the voice of God through His Word? With a rival truth claim, we can: -Hold it side-by-side with Scripture -See the Truth of the Bible through the eye of the world -See the world’s message through the lens of the gospel A false view of Jesus will never fully satisfy you. Not every opposition of the Truth is a personal attack on you. -We must listen to and speak the Truth in love. -verse 4 says, “You have overcome the world.” Our culture is trying to redefine love. -We can’t redefine love with venom and hatred. -We need a quiet confidence and gentleness. Remember, “Greater is He who is in you than He that is in the world.”
