Root 66 – Deeply Rooted for the Road Ahead
Today Pastor Alex started our new 66+ week series looking at an overview of the Bible. The hope is that this new knowledge of the Bible is not just for information, but for transformation. Psalm 119 shows us the importance of what the Word is for us, and how it needs to be essential for our lives. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
7 truths to build a foundation for the Bible
1. The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and trustworthy Word of God. 2 Peter 1:21
Inerrant – without error (Psalm 12)
Trustworthy – written over 1500 years by 40 authors on 3 continents and in 3
languages.
2. The Bible is:
1 Book
2 Halves called testaments that make up a
4 act “drama” told by (creation, fall, redemption, restoration)
66 books
3. The 2 Halves are
OT 39
NT 27
4. The 39 Books of the OT are seen like this:
