A Conversation about Spiritual Disciplines
Our focus this morning was on the spiritual discipline of worship. Louie Giglio calls worship, “our response to God for who He is, and what He has done; expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.” Worship is more than music. It requires our lips and our lives…worship is our life.

Some of the characteristics of the greatness of God:

• He is not old, He is eternal
• Creator
• Kind
• Just
• All Consuming Fire
• Gracious
• Immutable
• Consistent
• Loving
• Faithful

We discover the Greatness of God through His self-revelation to us in His Word. In John 4:16-26 we see a picture of the triune God as Jesus speaks to the woman about worshipping in spirit and in Truth. He wants an intimacy in worship that transforms us. Our passion and emotion need to be very authentic.

Worth-ship – Declaring back to God His worth driven by the Word that informs us as to who He is.

Genesis 22, Exodus 34, and Isaiah 6 are all beautiful pictures of true worship. Each incident shows that the person sees Him for who He is, and then walks it out with their life.

Prayer
Father, you are worthy of my worship. All my praise and adoration needs to be directed to you, but often I let ______________ get in the way. I want to know You better and better, and I realize that you will show me more of who You are through Your Word. I want my life to be a life of worship to you out of an obedience to who you have called me to be. You are worthy. You alone are worthy. I worship you this week in Spirit and in Truth.
