Young Adults

Welcome to Carmel Young Adults

Thanks for showing interest in Carmel Young Adults. We hope that this page will help answer some important questions about us and will encourage you to step into community with us. Please feel free to reach out to Ryan at if you would like to connect in person or if you have any questions.

Vision

We believe that vision matters. When you understand where a ministry is going and what they are trying to accomplish it creates unity and is incredibly life-giving. Below you will find our goals for gathering and the values that mark the Young Adult Ministry at Carmel.

We seek as a church to equip, encourage and challenge young adults to cultivate “ABLE” lives. Lives that:

  • Abide in Christ (John 15)
  • to Build relationships with the lost and found (John 13:35)
  • and Live the gospel in word and deed (Colossians 3:17)
  • with Everything we are and have (2 Timothy 2:1; Ephesians 4:11-16)

And we don't do it alone. We do it in community.

We meet God through His Word expectantly. The Bible will play a central role in our community because it holds the words of life. We anticipate God speaking and moving as we faithfully open His book. We approach God’s Word with a mindset focused on abiding and becoming like Christ. Whether we are alone or together, we take on a posture that there are always more riches to be seen, enjoyed, and applied in our lives.

We depend on the Lord prayerfully. Prayer will be the regular, visible engine of our community. When we’re alone and when we’re together, we will be a people of prayer — always adoring, always confessing, always thanking, always asking — trusting in the Lord and His power.

We fully know and fully love one another persistently. Week-in and week-out, we will seek to build one another up by choosing to know each other more and more deeply. We believe sharing our hearts and lives through fun experiences, praying for one another, asking questions, and bearing each other’s burdens leads to enjoying meaningful friendships with one another. We will be persistent learners of one another. We recognize that we must steward the trust of being trusted well. With everything we learn — good, bad, or otherwise — we will strive to love and serve one another — meeting each other’s needs, encouraging growth, and helping one another thrive.

We multiply disciples for Jesus boldly. We will seek to intentionally leverage the influence where God has planted us for the gospel. We are lights in a world of darkness that is desperately in need. Our commission from Jesus is clear: Go, and make disciples. We are God’s chosen means of spreading the good news and leading people to worship Him. Therefore, we are to be bold where we are and where He chooses to send us through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Weekly Discipleship Community Gatherings

Each weekly gathering holds fast to our core vision, therefore, we encourage you to choose the community you can participate in the most.

Sundays at Carmel in the Student Center in Room SC 203 at 11:00am. While we welcome all young adults, this gathering is more focused toward students attending college.

Thursdays at the Jackson’s home at 605 Stratford Woods Road from 7:00-8:30pm. While we welcome all young adults, this gathering is more focused toward individuals in the late stages of college and those stepping into careers.

If you are interested in leading a group at another time in Charlotte or on your campus, we would love to walk with you and help you be a catalyst for creating another young adult community.

Based on the weekly gathering you choose, we encourage you to participate in worship each week at Carmel with your group at one of our Sunday gatherings at 8:00am, 9:30am, or 11:00am.

Occasional Gatherings

While weekly groups choose additional activities to do together, we are dreaming for future opportunities for all of the young adult community to come together.

Seasonal Gatherings

Varsity  A time of equipping and connecting specifically for Young Adults. We take a conversational approach as we look into the Bible about relevant topics. In addition to our Varsity time is a chance to play some games together. So think intramural activities such as ultimate frisbee, triple kickball, giant volleyball, etc. You are welcome to just hang out as well during that time. We typically meet for Varsity during Summer and Winter breaks on Sundays from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
