Christie Benton

Christie is an LCMHCA in North Carolina. She enjoys working with women and children and is passionate about walking alongside her clients in their journeys toward hope, healing, and positive change.

She specializes in working with children from the ages of three to twelve and is in the process of becoming a Registered Play Therapist.  As a licensed therapeutic foster parent, Christie has a special place in her heart for foster and adoptive families and plans to work toward incorporating both trauma and attachment-based therapies into her practice where appropriate. Christie also enjoys partnering with women of all ages who struggle with depression, anxiety, and related issues.

Christie joined the Carmel Counseling Center team in fall of 2021 as a counseling intern. In January of 2023, Christie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Masters in Christian Counseling Program with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health.  Christie obtained her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Winthrop University in 1993.  She and her husband of 29 years live in Matthews and have four grown biological children, as well as a daughter-in-law and soon to be son-in-law. They enjoy “grandparenting” foster children for families in need of respite care, gardening, reading together, travel and spending time with their family.

Christie is a member of the American Counseling Association.
