David is an ordained pastor and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor. He has supervised many associate counselors in the Charlotte-metro area over the years who are pursuing their license as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. David joined the pastor staff at Carmel in 2000 and serves as an Elder and Pastoral Lead Team member. David oversees the care ministries of the church and the Carmel Counseling Center. He often shepherds Carmel families through the loss of a loved one.
David completed his Ph.D. from the Center of Counseling and Family Studies at Liberty University. His dissertation focused on Christian Spirituality and Marital Wellness. David is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management. David often teaches locally and internationally on marriage and family, parenting and trauma. He has a heart for missions and was part of a team that began a Christian counseling center in Albania.
David is an Assistant Professor at Liberty University where he regularly teaches online for the Rawlings School of Divinity and the Doctor of Education program within Pastoral Care. David also serves on the Dissertation Faculty Team aiding doctoral students in the dissertation process. David has Chaired and or acted as a Reader to many students’ dissertations over the years.
David has been married to his wife Jennifer for 29 years. He and Jennifer have two adult daughters who live and work in Charlotte.
