The Remarkable life of Christ – Mark 3:13-20
Apr 3, 2022
Mark 3:13-20
Pastor Alex focused on the calling of the 12 Apostles in Mark 3:13-20. Because the apostles were appointed by Jesus they were special men chosen to help Jesus preach and minister to many in need. But they were also ordinary men who lived ordinary lives but lived with one purpose to uplift the name of Jesus. The apostles lived the words of Isaiah the prophet “we wait for you; your name and renown is the desire of our heart” (Isaiah 26: 8).
Is it okay to be ordinary and not spectacular?
It is okay to be ordinary because we live in the shadow of the extraordinary Christ.
We do the extraordinary work of sharing the Gospel.
The Gospel is the good news of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that through faith in Him we can be forgiven and reconciled to God.
It is okay not to make a name for yourself if you’re living your life for the name of Christ.
Discuss as a Family:
- Do you ever feel ordinary? Is this a good or a bad thing?
- Read Hebrews 11: 36-28. There are many who served the Lord but we do not know their names. Who in your life do you see as extraordinary but might not be known by many?
Final Thought:
It is okay to be ordinary. It is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. Perhaps, an ordinary life in the end when it is all said and done is a reMarkable one when living for the One and Only—Jesus.
God’s best to you this week!
