Vision Sunday 2014
Carmel is committed to making disciples of those Nearest, our Neighbors, and the Nations. This Sunday, Pastor Alex continued to unfold the vision for Carmel with a focus on “The Nations”. He showed us that from Genesis 1 to the end of Revelation, God’s heart beats for the nations. As followers of Christ in learning and living, we too should have a passion to see the gospel proclaimed to the nations.
Matthew chapter 28 opens with a resurrection, and ends with a commission. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commissioned his followers to go, and as you are going, to make disciples. We have incredible opportunities to live out this commission, as we go, pray, and give for the nations.
Questions to discuss as a family today
1. As a recap from last week, how did you take opportunities to love and serve your neighbors?
2. Have you ever considered being a part of an international mission team? Why or why not?
3. What are some practical ways you can go, pray, and give for the nations?
4. The Global Outreach committee at Carmel has some great resources available that will help you understand our global missions partnerships. Discuss as a family how you might go, pray, or give to one of these strategic relationships. Click here.
Prayer
Pastor Alex shared a monthly strategy aimed at praying for those nearest, our neighbors, and the nations. It looks like this:
Week 1: Pray for those nearest.
Week 2: Use your “Neighbors” card to pray for your neighbors.
Week 3: Pray for countries around the world. He suggested the book found here as a resource.
Week 4: Free agent week! Start the strategy over, or pray as The Lord leads.
Thank The Lord for the privilege of carrying the message of the gospel to the nations. Pray that God would burden your heart to see that the people of the world have an opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel. Pray for missionaries, who have dedicated their lives to making disciples of the nations; for their protection, provision, and success. Ask The Lord to show you how your family might join with others in the mission to go, pray, and give for the nations.
