Vision Sunday 2014

Pastor Alex continued to unfold the vision for Carmel this morning with the focus on “Our Neighbors”. We are commissioned to “Go Across the Street” to “Love and Serve” our neighbors. We all live in a HOOD, and we have neighbors that we are called to do life with. Our hood is a place of adventure, a play where we play, laugh, love, and struggle.

Jesus commands us in Matthew 22:37-38 to love the Lord and love our neighbors. Jesus is quoting both Deut. 6:4-7 and Lev. 19:9-18. Hearts will change and Charlotte will turn towards the Lord if we are faithful and obedient to love and serve our neighbors. BUT, in order to do this, we must know them!

Questions to discuss as a family today

1. As a recap from last week, did you do a better job of eating dinner together as a family?

2. Are you giving your best to your neighbors? Why or why not?

3. What are some practical ways you can love and serve your neighbors?

4. Get out the card that was in your bulletin and fill it out as a family. What are the action steps you need to take next? (Maybe it’s to find out a neighbors name, minister to a need, or just start being friendly…)

Prayer

Thank the Lord for the opportunity to live in community. Thank Him for the home that you live in, and for your “HOOD”. Praise Him that you have the opportunity to make His name famous on your street. Confess any fears that you have related to meeting neighbors and ministering to them. Ask the Lord to give you discernment to know how to best love and serve your neighbors. Take out your card and pray for your neighbors by name.
